Syntax: Adjectival Phrases

Simple adjectival phrases (AdjPs) consist of a single adjective. Adjectives commonly modify nouns (sunny skies; scattered showers), but they can also appear in copular VPs (She is happy; The book is interesting). They can in turn be modified by adverbs (see Adverbial Phrases for more information on AdvPs). Moreover, like NPs, AdjPs can be coordinated by conjunction (black and white). Diagram the following AdjPs and check your answers (given in both simple and X-bar form).
